Yeah, it wouldn't be that hard.

Maybe some funny screen effects (the hardest part, probably), and then spawn random objects a short distance away every once in a while, and make them disappear when bumped.

That's what they're supposed to do.

Yeah, but still, Sloth should be kursed a little time later again, I think...

How about it gets kursed every time it is picked up? (Credit Nethack for the idea.)
Thanks to penguinflyer2222 for the avatar, and to penguinflyer5234 for hosting it.

That would be thoroughly evil...
But well, I don't ever pick up Sloth anyway, so I can't say I'd care about it... Just get yourself a book of enchant, right? :P

I think it should say, as you pick it up, "This sword seems a little sticky, but it's not very hard to pry off". And multiple unkurses make its bond weaker and weaker. And, when it's unkursed the 5th time or so, it would become a very nice sword with insane attack, though its swing is slow (but does not slow down the player).
"Failing to plan is planning to fail."
Bug me if you want to play a game.

No. With its current insane ATK (10!!) and STR dampen (0.65, if I remember correctly), a lvl5 soldier with 30 STR would deal 29.5 damage in each hit - if he were to do that without any drawback either this would be the most overpowered weapon in the game, closely followed by the maul of the titans.

Hmm I wonder if the strength bonus to damage system is balanced. Maybe it should work more like the int and wis bonus does? (Every point of strength increases damage dealt by 3% or something like it). Or we should rebalance the insane 60% or 80% strength bonus weapons.

I think lowering the STR dampen on most weapons a bit (especially on magical weapons, though) should suffice; A sword gaining 10% of the user's STR as ATK sounds about right (30 STR -> 3 bonus damage), for heavy crushing weapons like the mace or the mallet maybe some 15-ish %. However, I guess we should get away from only using 5, 10, 15, 20 and so on, and instead balance more accurately; there can already be a difference between 5% and 7% if the user has like 50 STR (which is very possible to reach for some characters!), for example. Shall I make a list again?

Remember that around 18 strength was aarons idea of the normal limit for a human. 30 strength is really strong. While 40-50 is insane (Deamon Lord has around that). Over that would be godly.
