Re: The totally bestest thread ever (for random stuff)
Is it just me, or does anybody else think that ‘cool’ is a stupid word? It feels so…childish. It sounds specially dumb to me when people use it in (relatively) serious contexts. I once told a therapist that I planned on acquiring a degree in library science, and he responded with ‘cool’ as he was writing something down. It just felt awkward.
Just about everybody says ‘cool’ these days, and it always sounds pathetic to me. It even exists in Japanese (クール). If you ask me, ‘cool’ is dumb term now.

I'm sorry, guys, but... I like League of Legends. It's fun and I discovered that learning to be not-completely-terrible can actually be fun too.

Me too
The game's just incredibly fun to learn. It feels awesome to notice you're getting even a slightly better grasp of assessing situations (the thing I had the most trouble with), building characters, coordinating your team or finetuning ability combinations.
(right now, I enjoy playing Singed, Kennen, Leona and Udyr the most. Lux, Pantheon, Malphite, Akali and Teemo are pretty nice too)

I thought you were a Chrome guy. Haven't tried Ahri yet, but she seems great.Agent of Dread wrote: Foxfire Ahri always and forever.

Lux does seem nice, if I didn't have friends who love her I'd be learning her like no tomorrow because of her very noticeable Marisa reference.

When I read 'Marisa reference' I instantly thought of the FE myrmidon.

This post isn't intended as offensive, so if you feel it is, just ignore it, but complaining about it kinda makes you seem like a narcissistic megalomaniac who thinks they're the next Einstein. I mean, not you as much as some others, but it's like, all the people complaining about it are the ones who consider themselves to be above the average intelligence. Sure, you, for example, actually come across as someone who might be a little bit above it (but not enough to boast about it on every occasion (which you don't, so it's cool (heh)), I think, but well), but the majority are just trying to seem like that because they seriously believe that they are, obsessively so. You're obviously not nearly as much like that, but if you'd complain about it to someone who thinks that you're, well, cool, that makes you seem like a douchy tomato-cucumber.Seth wrote:Is it just me, or does anybody else think that ‘cool’ is a stupid word? Just to give an example of it, some of the people on Omegle who have 'intelligent things' as interests are like that, and if you say "cool" to them, in any context, they'll disconnect immediately or start asking if your IQ is less than 80 or something... just from using one word. Is that how you want to become? (Probably, so this might be a little useless, but well.) In my opinion, which is useless to the Secret Transgovernmental Übermensch Organization of Organized Secrecy, it's mostly irrelevant what words people use, if their opinion is clear and they're fun to talk with, including about serious subjects. What's the point in discussing something if it's not fun and/or useful, etc. and you just argue and debate everything, including the choice of words?
...that was kinda repetitive, but the point is that, like, it's a word that fits some contexts better than others, including certain serious things. If someone tells me they invented a time machine, what else would I say? "I want one!"? Not before I'd see evidence of it. "Epic"? Nah, that'd be taken as nerdy. "Is it bigger on the inside?"? Way too nerdy and referency to say to any sciencifically serious person. "Awesome"? Just as scientifically unacceptable as "cool". "Prevent every dictator ever from becoming dictators and everyone will be happy!"? Well... yeah, it'd be retarded. "Let's go see how the dinosaurs died (and die with them)!"? Eh... yeah... so, like, you get the point.
Once upon a time, when unicorns roamed the earth...
