How does this compare with the current values?

Almost all weapons' STR dampen has been made lower, but I'm too lazy to look up the original values right now. If you want to check them yourself, STR dampen can be found in each object's data.txt, somewhere near the bottom.

If I weren't so lazy, I'd probably look them up myself...

As good as all weapons in the game will have their damage lowered. Most affected are magical ones. Weapons like the Titans Maul have been reduced from 80% to 30%. (At 20 strength you gain +6 damage instead of +16). Before it was normal to have weapons with 40%, 50%, etc. Now 30% is the limit.

This should affect the game a lot for high strength characters. Don't worry ben, Smite was actually boosted by 1% compared to before ;)

Sorry if this has already been, (I only checked the first few pages) but when my adventurer, Livalas, picked up that Spike Mace in the Ice Palace, his HP bar went black, as if he has no life. Yet, he was still standing there, alive, and when I dropped it, it went back to normal. I'll get a screenshot if you need it.

I have the same problem, here is the answer:
Agent of Dread wrote:That's Smite for ya.
Smite is meant to do that, in exchange for near-unstoppable power and bloodlusty screaming.

That's no bug - smite simply makes your remaining life points black as well as long as you hold it, but it doesn't do any real damage to you. :)
However, since you can't see how much life you've got remaining like that, Smite can be... ...deadly... ...in the heat of the combat if you're not careful enough. :?

I remember, I never thought it as a bug. I knew it can't be a bug, because that would be STRANGEST bug ever. (or maybe not the strangest, but...)

I never actually had that weapon before, though.

Why does the Xbow not have a strength bonus while the magic one does?

Hm? Oh, right, I forgot to change them. Crossbows are all supposed to have 0.00.

It would be interesting if crossbows had a slight strength bonus to attack speed.
It would make sense, really; if you were stronger you could pull it back faster.

:agree:
That would be nice for strong people.
