Made a new adventurer, spent all my money on Fireball and the difficulty went down from making me throw my gamepad at the screen to fairly challenging. Everyone too close gets a spear in their faces, Two fireballs kill the Sand Troll, that means the Lightning wand is left for the Scorpion. So worth the 300 zorkmids.

All the class skills are passive, I don't need to use a button/combination to use stealth with a rogue for example?

Thanks everyone for all the answers, the community here is so nice that I'm forgetting that this is the Internets. :)

All you have to do is to stay still to use stealth (I think)

Oh, so stealth is that thing when you stand there for a few seconds and your character vanishes!

Or turns invisible-ish gold/yellow.

That's supposed to be the same.

Manged to get to Catacombs 1 but now I'm getting murdered by bats that are too fast to hit and the ghostly thing thats imune to both fire and spear stabs. Anyone have some advice on how to kill them?

I think there is a bug in 2.7.4 that causes Ghosts to be immune to all damage (all weapons simply pass through them).

The bug is fixed in the upcoming 2.7.8 release. Bats can be tricky, but using slashing or bashing weapons should be effective.

I have a little question for Sand Palace, too.

My elf has the following stuff:
-Dragon Hide (1337 armour for fire mages who hate roasting themselves )
-Sword
-Bow (but I suck with it)
-Fireball
-Unlock
-Missile
-Amulet of Regen (got it from a character of my friend; for me, it would be too expensive, actually)

And I somehow don't know which weapons I should equip.
-Sword: Good against the scorpion and the multiple tranches, good damage, bad range, bad speed
-Mallet: Good because of troll bashing after petrification, okay damage, low range, good speed
-Spear: Good to hold back trogs, bad damage, epic range, okay speed
-Claw: Cool, good against scorpion, very bad damage and range, very good speed

The petrified troll can be broken with Fireball too, I know, but somehow 1. Fireball is buggy in 2.8.0 1080 and 2. the fireball often fails because of slow charging and just blows up into my elf (because of Dragon Hide, it does only Ticklish damage but the troll recovers if a single fireball fails).

Swords seem the best weapon theoretically, but I somewoh don't like them because they are so slow and the range is so short that my elf gets killed before he gets an enemy in range (except if it's a tranch that is easy to trick).

Mallets are average in most matters but it's difficult to hit with them because the range is also kinda low and they just epicly fail against the trogs.

Can someone tell me which items I should carry for success?
And no, I hate life potions because they reduce your precious max life I hate stat destroyers. Amulet of Regen is far more effective, if you ask me.

Teaming up with a healer would be best, but I'm the only one of my friends who has one... and I haven't got a joystick and want to play my elf... although if nothing else is possible, I would play the healer while a friend of mine plays G'nome, Soldier or Adventurer. In multiplayer, healers are kewl... especially Lvl 5 healers. :D

BTW: Can someone list the raw weapon speeds (w/o dextrity) here?

Go with the sword. A sword and a book of fireball will comfortably carry you for a ridiculously long time; pretty much up into the Abyss, really.
The sword hits multiple enemies. This helps keep the tranch traps under control, though if you're fast enough, you could probably just roast them with a fireball (tranches are weak against fire, just like the troll). The sword should suffice to get the troll down, too. For the scorpion, all you really need is missile; it does ZAP damage, which completely slaughters the boss.

Tranches are weak against fire? So, I will let my wizard hand him over the Pyro Blast spell and keep the bow for later instead. That will make it even easier, I guess.

All weapons are limited by the base attack animation speed. This attack speed is always the same, no matter what the dexterity the character has. The base attack speed is usually no longer than 1 second. Zombor has the best base attack speed by animation.

In addition you have the dexterity dependent attack speed. This is a average 1 second delay which is reduced by 0.02 seconds with each point of dexterity. This means someone with 50 DEX will have the most optimal attack speed possible. Some weapons have 0.8 second delay (i.e cinquanda) while others have 1.5 seconds (i.e axes).
