Practice mode helps a lot for learning how the corridors in the bullet carpets in Stage 4 work, and once again, this is MoF, so just bomb whenever the situation becomes ticklish - especially during Momiji's attack. And don't leave the “safe path” to collect items – it's what kills me the most here.

PCB on Hard is pretty much the same difficulty, all the really troublesome spellcards got replaced with 'harder' ones that are easier to get through.

Touhou freaks me out, it's one of the largest media franchises in Japan and it all spawned from one guys' bedroom-programmed game.

And as far as I can tell the game is just about french maids shooting each other in space.

I think the real clincher is that underneath the often-ludicrous aesthetic, there's still a damn fun shmup waiting to be enjoyed.

Not really. PCB on Hard actually is harder than on Normal, unlike IN.
Alice especially suddenly becomes a fairly difficult boss.

I disagree, with the removal of Foggy London Dolls she doesn't really pose much of a challenge at all.
Not to mention Youmu drops Fasting of the Young Gaki and Karmic Punishment as well which is possibly the biggest relief of them all.

I take it you can 1cc PCB's Hard Mode, then? Enlighten me on how to do it. Last time I tried I died to Yuyuko's Last Spell.

No, I can't do that. But I was expecting it to be a lot more brutal than it was is all I'm saying. I would be able to tell you how I was going on Yuyuko's Last Spell, but the blasted game didn't move the cursor when I went to 'Yes' continue.

Hard is hard, but still fair in a way. If you want brutal, pick Lunatic.
