Not true... many death metal bands have lyrics about space, philosophic things, sci-fi, and stuff like that as well.

Take it easy. I've had braces for nearly three years, and while they're somewhat annoying, you'll hardly realize they're even there after a while. Really, to me, the most annoying thing about having braces was that I was forced to visit my dentist every three weeks instead of just twice a year.
