Could be one of the other 500k+ people who played this game. Egoboo was pretty popular among Linux users at some point.

One of the trope entries even cited a scenario playing with a party of 3-4 people locally, or in other words, "man, I wish".

hi, this is Ditto. I've forgotten my old password so this will have to do

and I apologize for vanishing on everyone, for like... 4 years. I'll avoid a long and waffly explanation and say that I hit a few rough patches IRL, and things are going a lot better now. Surprised to see that this place is still active every once in a while.

How is life treating you guys?

Ohh, hey man. It sure has been a while! Good to hear that you pulled through with the Life Stuff. It surprised me as well that everyone sort of checked in not that long ago, let alone that we just started a new PnP.

Feels a little like the good old days, except not at all, because I feel like a completely different person to the AoD who wrote some of those old posts. :P

Ooooooh yeeeeah that "summon forum member" spell totally works.

The discussion over the last few pages in this thread pretty much sums up everyone who's checked in in the last few months.
Glad to hear you're doing well yourself Ditto... 4 years, huh? Your spiral knights character must be level 500 by now. :teach:

Would this be a good time to interest you in opening your heart and accepting Cimeries as your GM and savior?

Manipulating fate is what I'm best at. I did use a Remilia avatar for a couple of years, after all. :P

At first I was confused because I thought the thing it was eating was somebody's dentures. :P

Random life update: for some reason, my ability to write lyrics is now gone to the point where I can't even come up with a single line for even one song. I think it's because I've spent so much time trying to learn other languages, more and more recently, that somehow it has started to replace English in my head. Hell, it's even happening with Finnish to an extent, and the thought that maybe one day in the future I won't be able to use my own first language is so scary that I should force myself to take a break from everything linguistics-related. I don't know how, but I need to, although it's really hard considering the fact that it's just about the only thing my social life online revolves around and the one thing I enjoy besides music... and having a creative block or whatever currently means I'm spending more time on language shit than ever before. Like, I've gotten three new songs done recently, but I cringe every time I try to sing anything that isn't English; I guess it's because I think in English half of the time and in Finnish the other half, but doing lyrics in Finnish is embarrassing and most of the time doesn't fit the kind of stuff I do.

Something that could be either unrelated or related is that I have a hard time focusing on anything. My attention span has never been as short as it is now, and the one thing I can focus on is stuff related to languages. I don't get bored, it's more like my mind just wanders and stops taking in new information even if I find it interesting; maybe it's related to my mental health somehow. I used to have times like this in the past, but it's more annoying now since I can't even focus on music like I always could before. Now music has been replaced by linguistics (and conlanging of all things), so an entire language might just pop into my mind and I'm tempted to type its phonology and grammar and shit, which is why I have literally over a hundred text files with a dozen random conlang phonologies and occasionally grammatical rules or vocabulary or something each. Of course, none of them ever get anywhere close to being usable for writing lyrics or anything.

I miss Egoboo. I don't even have it installed now. If only there could be a new stable version... that'd maybe inspire at least some of us (or at least me) to want to do some new modules or something. Hell, I've been having dreams where I play Egoboo and it has several alternative main story campaigns and all kinds of epic sidequests with a huge variety of everything, and feel really sad when I wake up because I know none of that will ever be.

oh yeah, when i deleted my fb rather spontaneously, i didn't stop to think & look for other channels to keep up with people :c
Agent of Dread wrote:Because for some reason I never thought to look in the past, how much of the Egoboo TVTropes page was written by us (or, most likely, Octy)? :P
oh... i think i wrote about half of the page, submitted it to their draft workshop thing and unexpected random people added the rest :P
i don't like looking back on the tvtropes days because i wrote so much inane garbage, but the sheer amount of stuff i did there is kinda funny

Don't you know that if you post in this forum you have to join the ongoing pnp? You've gone and sealed your fate now. It is written.

It's actually a great time to join since I can introduce your character very smoothly at this point in the story.
