An upgrade to your chainsaw guy idea:
Doom-esque bull monster with running chainsaws for horns.

Once upon a time, when unicorns roamed the earth...

I actually meant them to point forward but yeah, that's the gist of it. ^^

One further step: Spider with chainsaws instead of legs and a potato instead of a body.

No, I was just having fun with the idea that you weren't being sarcastic. Hopefully you recognized my sarcasm as well.Agent of Dread wrote:Wow, is sarcasm really that hard to read?Maxaxle wrote:Now you understand! No, I just finally thought you'd learned some self-evaluation with that trope you stuck on the end there.

Re: Just an idea
C'mon, me? Chaotic Stupid? Sure, breaking stuff can be fun, and I like to experiment with what can and what cannot be broken/damaged/messed with/etc., but honestly I don't like blowing stuff up that much. Unless it's epic and/or really flashy/theatrical for some reason.Agent of Dread wrote:No, I just finally thought you'd learned some self-evaluation with that trope you stuck on the end there.

You seem to fundamentally misunderstand the concept of chaos.

Re: Just an idea
Blowing stuff up is a classic element of being under the Chaotic category, amirite? Pointlessly disorganizing stuff? Catalyzing entropy?...Regardless, the ability to break random stuff you're not intended to break, the ability to mess with buttons and random appliances, etc. just adds to the atmosphere to a game. Especially if it includes stuff like reading people's emails, looking at stuff that's been faxed recently, listening to recordings, etc. that can provide insight into the game's plot. Classic example: Deus Ex.Cimeries wrote:You seem to fundamentally misunderstand the concept of chaos.

Re: Just an idea
How much detail are we expected to go into for our first game, man?

Re: Just an idea
A Nethack clone at least.
Joking aside a simplistic roguelike with high replay value (think desktop dungeons) might be fun.

A roguelike platformer ala Spelunky is something I like the sound of.

Depends on the genre, I guess. The more exploration-oriented it is, the more you put in.Agent of Dread wrote:How much detail are we expected to go into for our first game, man?

If we put in a running-from-boulder-portion I recommend that a character lampshades it.Agent of Dread wrote:A roguelike platformer ala Spelunky is something I like the sound of.
EDIT: What if we put the general idea of the game into Tropespeak? Or at least finer points of the game?
Example: if the game is meant to be realistic, then Rewarding Vandalism should not be included unless you're being monitored or have a Voice With An Internet Connection to guide your actions and/or compensate you when you've destroyed something.

Nonono, if we start talking trope-speak I'll have to start reading it again and I'm not sure I can dedicate the necessary 25 hours a day to that.
