=======================================================

"Damn it. Why didn't all of you just shut up? You all had such great futures. And now they're gone, because you wouldn't keep quiet. You disgust me, filthy traitors. Wait here until your execution, maybe you'll rot early and we won't have to touch your filth." The warden spits on the ground by your cell and walks away in disgust, as four guards take his place. An electric wall shoots up from the ground, sealing off the cell. There is no way out any more. All that surrounds you is solid rock and cruel electricity, and attempting escape would result in broken limbs or fried skin. You don't feel like you could be yourself, because this would never happen to you, with your brilliance, creativity, and future full of oppurtunity.

You feel like a spectator looking down from the heavens, looking at four people in a cell. There is a scientist and doctor girl in a corner, body and soul bruised, with her brilliance wasted, blonde haired and wearing a black dress, radiating with muffled light. There is a giant howling through the electric wall at the guards, strong willed and bold, who should be roaming free but is instead trapped in a cell. There is a d'warven priest whose kindness is being mocked and wasted, who tries to console the giant in the hour when he is most angry. Finally, there is a great engineer and physicist, creativity unmatched who sits in the corner opposite the girl, with his brilliance being laughed at. All great people, most likely destined to die without spreading their greatness among those who could benefit from it, because no one shared or respected their views, and everyone wanted them to shut up because they didn't want to hear the ugly truth. And worst of all, they had no way out. Sure, they snuck weapons into their cells, but they had a castle against them, the people and the castle itself. If they even tried to fight, the castle itself would bind them with magic, simply floating them to their deaths. So they just did as they were told.

The electric wall dissolves for a minute, and you instantly snap back to reality. A pale young guard, fully armored in platemail with two shields and two huge blades, steps into the cell. Despite his apparent brutality, it seems like his words hurt him as much as they hurt you, physically and mentally. "I'm not supposed to hurt prisoners, but I don't think my friends out there will mind if I have a little fun, especially not if it's with miserable traitors like you." The giant lunges towards him, but the guard quickly says a word, and a beam of magic comes down from the ceiling, freezing the giant in place. The guard releases a fragment of a laugh, and kneels down towards the girl, looking at her face to face with a look of hatred.
Spoiler: Tessa
The guard whispers to you, and hands you a few coin like objects. "These block the castle's magic. Share them with your friends, and we'll get the hell out of here."
The guard smashes his helmet into the girls face, and she falls back into the corner. "We'll get to the point where we drop you miserable traitors down to the cold, hard ground in a few minutes. I hope you fall on a sharp rock." The guard laughs coldly and leaves the room, the electric wall opening up and closing as he goes through it. The bonds of magic around the giant shatter, and he falls to the ground in pain.

Since there's nothing you can do right now, you should get to know your cell mates. You've heard that guards carry emergency parachutes, maybe you can try stealing them and falling safely.

Interact and Shizzle. :D

In case you don't know, Tessa is the girl, and the engineer/physicist is Lucius.

EDIT: Forgot helmet butt damage, took 10 HP away.

Story:
Tessa has been born and raised in the custody of Axedes. She is the child of a family of scientists, and has thus been raised to become their successor. She's never been able to leave the labs much, and has thus never been able to experience things such as friendship, or even just the outside world - she is unprepared for the dangers of the world. However, despite of this, the deeds of Axedes have not gone by unnoticed by her - and despite never having seen the outside world, she has decided that what Axedes is doing is wrong. However, she was caught when she tried to sneak out of the labs...
Tessa is a very shy girl with the natural gift of magic. She is very unexperienced and unprepared for the dangers of the world, resulting in a bit of naivety. On the other hand, she has a strong will and a strong sense of justice. She tries to help people whenever possible, even if it means to put her own life in danger.

Misc.:
AP left: 0
Spells:
[1/1] Shield Barrier [100 AP]
[Base: 2 turns / 40 Pts]
[Curr: 3 turns / 55 Pts]
Temporarily creates a magical barrier around an ally that prevents all harm done to it. The barrier lasts for [2 + KNO/2] turns or until it has received [40 + KNOx5] damage, whichever comes first.

Abilities:
- Concentration [150 AP]
Tessa can use her minor action each turn to cast a spell, at the cost of a runestone.
Tessa stares at the walls, buried in thought. What Axedes is doing is horrible... unforgivable. Yet here she is, trapped in a prison cell together with three other people who were just as unlucky as her. None of them did anything wrong. But they are destined to die regardless. What an irony of fate.
But suddenly, a young guard carrying a remarkable amount of equipment around enters the cell for - seemingly - no reason other than to humiliate them. And the events following happen way too fast.
"Wh-what... Ow!"
The guard hands Tessa something and then smashes his helmet into her face. She recovers from the impact only after he has already left the cell again.
"...what was that about!?"
But those coins... She was told to share them with the others. Figuring that their situation probably can't get any worse than this, she does as she was told and silently distributes the coins among everyone equally, then whispers to them:
"...he said... ...those block the castle's magic. It appears he's going to help us..."

Lucius Fern, Lv1 [00] (Front)
48/48 HP
16 Atk | 105 Hit | 34 Crt | 55 Avd
Morningstar (6[x2] Atk, -10 Hit, 5[x2] Crt, 1h)
Spoiler: Inventory & Status
Items (0/6):

Kinomancy:
[10/10] Sketch [100 AP]
Luke can create and dismiss at will magical visual illustrations, graphs, charts and so forth of any concept or idea that he is familiar with.
When used while devising a course of action for a task (such as planning a route through enemy territory, or discussing how to engage the enemy), successful completion of the task will award (Knowledge x 10) percent more exp than it would otherwise (for everyone nearby). Currently exp will be scaled to 130%.

[6/6] Blink [135 AP]
Luke can cover short distances of about 15 meters in an instant so long that they are visible to him. In combat, Luke can expand two uses to attack anyone in any row as if they were both at the front for the duration of the attack, and instantly return to his place.
Blinking in itself is considered a free action.
Blinking as a combination with an attack uses one Major and one Minor action.

Abilities:
- Ballistics [125 AP]
Luke adds his Knowledge modifier to weapon Atk when fighting with physical weapons (things like energy or magic weapons are excluded). Currently 3.

- Bonecrusher [65 AP]
When wielding a one-handed weapon with nothing in the off-hand, the weapon's base Atk and Crt are doubled.

Stats:
+1 STR
+3 DEX
+1 AGI
-3 END
+3 KNO

Technological Skills:
+2 Combat Tools
+3 Special Tools
+5 Engineering
+0 Medical

Story:
Gifted with a moderate amount of magic, Luke was what is commonly referred to in Axedes as an "arcane scientist", one who studies both science and magic and the relationship between them. Particularly, Luke's area of expertise is Physics and Motion, and the way Magic can alter and obscure its laws.

Becoming bored of his daily routine he decided that he wanted to leave Axedes and study the rest of the world, only to end up accidentally uncovering a massive conspiracy plot and being exiled.
He got what he wanted, it's just that he got too much of it, It seems that he will have the chance to observe first hand the interaction between the earth, gravity and his poor brittle frame.

Luke strives to appear calm and calculated, but he has a very short temper and tends to act before he thinks things through properly, and trouble seems to follow him whenever he goes. He has a black morningstar silhouette, about the size of his index finger, tattooed on the back of his right hand.

Misc.:
AP left: 115
Luke puts on a crooked smile. This whole experience seemed very surreal to him. Truth be told, he preferred not to acknowledge that he was in any danger.
If it all came down to it, he might be able to survive the fall. He's tired and beaten, but he still has magic on his side, so he did not share the depression his cellmates did. He did feel bad for them, though.
Still, he may be looking at a gamble here: Perhaps Uncle Sam knows what he's capable of and has a way to prevent him from surviving somehow. His chances were not perfect, but still far better than those of the others, he finally concluded in his mind.
The crooked smile turns into a frown. Luke might die today.

Then the girl in black passes him a coin, says something along the lines of "the guard helping them block the castle's magic". If this was true, maybe he didn't have to take the original gamble, he could take a different one instead. Was it worth it, trying to escape? But what if...

"But how can we tell the guard isn't actually tricking us? What if these are tracking devices? Some kind of remote explosive? Or something that nullifies our own magic? What if these things are here to ensure that we don't survive the fall?"

He blurts out as he begins thinking aloud.

I'm tempted to agree, but Tessa is too naive to consider such a possibility.

"...we can't... ...we can't tell if they are. But why would they go through the trouble of giving us such devices if they were harmful to us? They could always just kill us. It's your own decision whether you want to carry that thing or not, but I for one trust that man. ...besides, it's not like the situation I'm in could possibly get any worse..."

The giant grumbles. "Pff. You're lucky that you're even getting a way out, engineer. Whether or not you trust this guy, we don't have anything else to do, and I'm not about to burn from falling in a volcano." The d'warf reprimands the giant.
"No need to be so rude, lad. There are other ways we could get out, but I'm a trusting man. It's... well, it's gotten me in a jail cell, but it's also gotten me a lot o' friends, and it's kept me invisible from Axedes until now. That soldier was flinching just from hurtin' you, and I'll take that to mean he doesn't want anything bad to happen to us- so I don't think he's gonna want us to die."
"More than that, he seems pretty equipped- which means he's pretty used to having weapons around. If we can't trust him, we'll just knock the weapons out of his arms, and he'll be begging us for mercy. Plus, that gives us better chances against whoever his allies are. Anyway, since I clearly don't intend to die, and none of you do either, lets introduce ourselves. I'm Hart. That d'warf over there is my good friend Tal." Hart beckons for you to say your name.

Ha! A volcano! That certainly complicates things for him. Without knowing anything about it, it's best to assume that it's too big for him to "dodge". He may have to follow through with the others.

"You mentioned a volcano. How do you know that? Do you know how wide of a summit it has?" He queried.

"Call me Luke.", he added.

"I saw it through a window when we were being dragged through the halls to here, and we were slowly moving towards it. It didn't look too large to me, but our height might have something to do with that. This place is quite a bit above the ground, and I think we could avoid falling in with some momentum and a parachute. I don't know how much momentum we can find and how we can use it, though... If there isn't enough momentum for all of us, I'll risk the volcano."

A parachute would probably increase his ability to dodge the summit tenfold. He could dash ahead and then open it for maximum effect.

"I should probably tell you that if we come across parachutes, I'll most likely be taking the jump. Right now it's the safest possible bet for someone with my... ehem... capabilities."

"We should probably be able to get at least two, I saw three guards out there. You and Tessa can have the first two... I've almost died enough times to get some battle experience. Plus I've got this." Grinning, Hart discreetly shows the top of a blade hidden in his armor that glows a shadowy red, the word "oblivion" written on it. He quickly puts it away. "So, we'll all go with the guard's plan. Alright." Around ten seconds later, the electric wall dissolves, and the guard who talked to you earlier, along with two other drow guards are there. "Come on. I've been drooling for three long minutes thinking about killing you guys." The guard shakes his head, as if saying 'not yet.' The ground shakes and you hear rattling noises as Hart and Tal, armored in plate and chainmail respectively, rise up from the ground and walk alongside the guards, understanding the guard's gesture. You follow them.
Spoiler: Luke
Did you just see something on the ground of the cell? Must just be your imagination.
You're in the hallway, now. It's much like your cell, solid rock, but you can see an electirc door at the end of the hallway where you are probably supposed to be dropped.
Spoiler: Tessa
The guard quickly steps his foot in front of yours, and you fall to the ground face first. Your nose hurts. A lot. You tear up a little.
Tessa trips to the ground, and you hear something crack. The guard groans. "Ugh. A traitor and clumsy. Give me a second here." The guard leans down and picks Tessa up by one arm, painfully lifting her to her feet, and drags her along to the rest of the guards.
Spoiler: Tessa
The guard whispers in a quiet yet rushed manner to you when you're furthest from the guards. "There are more guards here than just the drow. We'll take their parachutes. I gave Tal mine."
The door at the end of the hallway opens, and you approach the balcony. Is there anything else you plan to do before you reach the balcony?

[Curr: 3 turns / 55 Pts]

Abilities:
- Concentration [150 AP]
Tessa can use her minor action each turn to cast a spell, at the cost of a runestone.
Reys? Did we just magically find out the deserter guard's name? And it's even the same dude from pf2222's game?
Dude, the next PnP I make will simply be a remake of all other PnPs I've lead so far. :P

And so they leave their cell, walking towards their fate... ...not knowing what will happen in the end. Tessa leaves her life in the odd guard's hands.
Until, suddenly, she trips over something and falls to the ground face first. She eventually can't help but burst into tears, but remains silent otherwise, even when the guard rudely lifts her up.
When the odd guard whispers something to her, she answers with a little nod - inconspicuously enough so that only the guard who whispered to her would notice it.
She then moves along until the odd guard makes his move.

Lucius Fern, Lv1 [00] (Front)
48/48 HP
21 Atk | 105 Hit | 34 Crt | 55 Avd
Morningstar (6[x2] Atk, -10 Hit, 5[x2] Crt, 1h)
Spoiler: Inventory & Status
Items (1/6):
- Odd Coin

Stats:

They were getting very close to the balcony. This heavy metal deserter better do something quick.

Beads of sweat accumulate on Luke's forehead. He twists his back a little to adjust to location of the weapon he had concealed in his sleeve. The sharp edges were scratching his back.

If he does this fast enough, he could grab a 'chute and jump even if their plan doesn't go through like it should.

"How about a last meal, hmm?"

"Careful, or I'll make you throw up so badly you'll lose the last meal you already had."
You continue walking through the doorway onto the balcony. The "balcony" is nothing but a piece of rock sticking out from Axedes, and has no railing other than a very small ridge around the edge. Your stomach feels pretty terrible right now. You continue watching the guard... and a few seconds later, the plan is in action. The deserter guard discreetly reaches for the sheath of one of his weapons... and in an instant, the plan is over. Both of the drow stab the deserter guard with all their weapons at once, and before you can react, your coins explode, and you slam into the wall. When you look up again, the deserter is collapsed on the ground, and Hart and Tal are... standing next to the guards, weapons drawn... pointing their weapons at you, clearly unaffected by any explosion.
Spoiler: Luke
You realize what you saw in the corner of the cell were the coins that Hart and Tal dropped.
"That was tiring... I don't think that getting rid of that deserter was worth going through this charade."
"That's for sure. You two, go dispose of these idiot traitors. Time for us to go get our pay."
Tal and Hart walk back through the opening, and the electric wall closes behind you. It was too late. Axedes had already claimed their knowledge and power for its own.

One of the drow viciously kicks the deserter, and he limply rolls off the balcony.
"I hate to say this, but I hope he's still alive. I want him to be conscious when he falls into the volcano."
The other one laughs, and the first one is quick to join in.
"Same thing for these two."
And then they approach you, bloodstained swords drawn.
"It only hurts when my squad won't f***ing heal me."

...the goddamn hell just happened?

And then everything happens way too fast.
The other guards impale the odd guard before he even gets to make his move. Tessa watches in terror as he just drops to the floor without further signs of life. And then the coins explode, sending Tessa and Luke flying against the walls... ...followed by Hart and Tal turning traitor and leaving the scene, leaving the two of them alone with two of the guards. Tessa needs a moment to realize all of this before she eventually gets back up to defend herself.
"...y-you must be kidding... ...we've been deceived from the very beginning? They knew this was going to happen?"
She turns towards Luke. Will he betray her as well? ...no, he's been hit by the explosion as well. He's probably the only one she can trust right now...
"...we... ...we can still do it. They're just two. I'm not very strong, but... I'll try to help you to the best of my ability."
She positions herself behind him and concentrates. Her rod glows for a short moment and eventually emits a sphere of concentrated magical energy, targeting one of the guards.

Magic Missile on the dude with the two one-handed Katanas.

This turn of events could have been almost comical if it wasn't for how sad it was. Just thinking about how that oversized gorilla managed to outwit him into his plan made him furious. Luke will have to be careful about who he trusts... if he lives. The girl seemed to be on the same boat as him for now, but he'll have to watch his back around her.

Luke's morningstar slides out of his sleeve and into his sword arm. He was mostly a scientist. Mostly.

He swings once at each guard.
"I hope for your sake that at least you're on my side, Tessa."
