Info:
Ability Points: 15
HP Mod: +3

Appearance:
Before you stands a proud-standing, middle-aged orc. Tall and broad shouldered, it's clear that age has diminished his strength from previous years, yet he still stands tall and strong like an old warrior. His clothing is tribal, composed of a belted fur kilt, a heavy fur cloak, and a circlet of strung together bones and teeth which rests upon a bald head. Different from some orcs, the orc has dark, red-brown skin, red eyes, and large, jutting teeth from his jaw. Black tattoos, seemingly traditional in nature, adorn his arms up from his hands to his shoulders. The orc has a short, wide, braided black beard that covers the bottom of his face and a smug smile of superiority. While old, the man does not seem wise, and his thick, slanted eyebrows and narrowed eyes give a feeling of discomfort when passing the man...
Unbelievable. The man effortlessly overcame a spell tailored to not be avoidable, dodged three fireballs without fail, and drained the last of his magic. What was he doing wrong? Was he even doing anything wrong, or was fighting this man just not an option? The pearl seemed to be their only option at this point - he at least couldn't do anything more without it.
"Red, let me see that pearl."
If Red gives him the pearl, Mulok tries to use it and predict the officer's next action, and communicates it to the group to allow them to dodge it.
"It only hurts when my squad won't f***ing heal me."

Background:
Veles is a mercenary, a sword for hire. He's been that for the past 30 years, and it's all he knows...
Literally. He has no recollection of what was before, of his childhood, or even of his family. He'd never seen anyone like himself before.
Rumors of the Order of the Path have reached his ears and he has set out to find them, in the hope that they can see not only further down "the Path", but could also reveal details of his past.
Now that the pearl was out of the man's reach, he has summoned some sort of magic sword. Veles was eager to see whether he can wield it well. That would be surprising. He sidesteps quickly and thrusts his sword at the man from a different angle.

Boss ♫

The battle continues, the hands controlling the Pearl of Insight no longer the enemy's!
Spoiler: Mulok
As soon as the Pearl comes into your hands, you feel an incredible sensation come over you. Colours and shapes representing the very future itself emanate from everyone in the room! You do your best to focus on what the Officer is going to do next to help your teammates avoid his attacks.
Battle
Yumiko attacks Order Officer's neck.
6 + 6 = 12 vs 12: Reroll.
13 + 6 = 19 vs 12: Hit! 5 + 3 = 8 damage.
Manoeuvre bonus:
6 + 5 = 11 vs 10: Success! +6 damage.
Yumiko's weighty swing cleaves right into her foe's neck, knocking him aside, a trail of blood arcing forward from him as he stumbles.

Veles attacks Order Officer.
13 + 5 = 18 vs 12: Hit! 8 + 5 = 13 damage.
Veles' followup is extremely effective, piercing the man's chest, creating another gushing flow of blood. It doesn't look like he can take much more...

Order Officer uses Adept Spark!
Mulok uses Pearl of Insight!
Mulok can see the fluctuating pattern of the huge multi-coloured laser laid out before his eyes. He immediately tells Veles and Yumiko where to dodge to as they just slightly dive out of the way without getting singed.

Order Officer attacks Veles.
18 + 3 = 21 vs 13: Hit! 5 damage.
Frustrated but not yet giving up, the wounded Officer lunges at Veles and slashes the long blade, cutting into his mark. Veles has certainly been hit harder, though.

...

...
Spells (3/3):

Invigorate
[Current: +10 HP]
Restores [10 ± 1.5xWIL] HP for a single target.

Delusion
[Current: -3 Hit for 2 turns, DG 12 vs. WIL]
Forces all enemies to do a WIL check against a DG of [10 ± INT]. Every enemy that fails the check suffers a [3 ± WIL/2] Hit malus for [2 ± INT/3] turns.

Immobilize
[Current: 2 turns, DG 10 vs. FOR]
Forces all enemies to do a FOR check against a DG of [8 ± INT]. Every enemy that fails the check is paralyzed for [2 ± WIL/4] turns.
Abilities (115/120 AP)

Quick Strike [ 0 / 2 ] [ Active ] [ 30 AP ]
As a minor action, Yumiko executes a normal physical attack with a -1 penalty to Hit and Dmg.

Finesse [ Passive ] [ 40 AP ]
Yumiko relies on finesse instead of brute strength to hit her enemies where it really hurts.
Increases damage dealt with physical attacks by DEX/2.

Caution [ Passive ] [ 25 AP ]
Sometimes, it's a good idea to take things slowly to avoid getting hurt.
Whenever Yumiko doesn't use her minor action during combat, she gains a +4 AGI bonus until she next gets a turn.

Soul Drain [ Passive ] [ 20 AP ]
Whenever an enemy is KO'd, Yumiko passively absorbs some of its magical power and regains one MP.
Traits

Tainted Blood
Yumiko is a demon. This doesn't make her inherently evil, but her physical and mental capabilities are a bit different than a human's.

She is nocturnal and can see very well in the dark.

She is a bit stronger than a normal human of her build would be, giving her +5 stat points.

Aside from HP recovery spells, she cannot learn any spells with effects directly beneficial to their target(s). If she attempts to do so anyway, the effects of the spell she learns are reversed - a buff becomes a debuff, for instance.

She has a low tolerance to heat. Heat- and fire-based attacks deal 50% more damage to her.

She has a very low natural recovery rate. The time she needs to recover HP and damaged modifiers via resting is tripled.

Wings
Yumiko has a pair of large bat-like wings. These wings are fully functional - she can use them to fly if there's enough space.

Taking off into the air or landing back on the ground is a minor action. Yumiko cannot fly if there isn't enough room to do so, if her wings are injured or if she wears heavy armor.

While flying, Yumiko cannot be hit by melee attacks and fully ignores formations - she doesn't cover her team's cover row and can attack the enemy cover row in melee without provoking any checks. If she does attack in melee herself, she can be hit by any counter-attacks the target may be capable of using, however.

If Yumiko takes physical damage to her wings while flying, she has to make a FOR check against the amount of damage she took. If she fails the check, she plummets to the ground (possibly taking further damage by the impact) and cannot fly again until her wings have recovered from the injuries.
However, this also means that she can only wear clothes and armor that have an opening on the back that she can fit her wings through. Cloaks on the other hand are fine.
Attributes:
+2 Strength
+5 Dexterity
+8 Agility (+4)
-3 Fortitude
+2 Intellect
±0 Willpower

HPMod: +1

Appearance:
- Somewhat short, slightly curly black hair
- Crimson red eyes
- 1.71m tall
- Pale skin
- Large black bat-like wings
- Orange shirt with red ruby-like buttons on it and collar in the same red color. The sleeves end in black frills. Has two small holes on the back for the wings.
- Short dark red skirt with a faint star pattern on it
- Wears a black silk pantyhose
- Black shoes
- Looks to be around 17 years old.
Yumiko grins sadistically, brimming with adrenaline. She didn't quite manage to take off his head in just a single blow, but the massive tear her halberd left behind in his neck, with massive amounts of blood gushing out, energizes her like nothing else. One more hit should be enough to finish him off!
"This is it. Have a nice trip to hell."
She repeats her previous attack, trying to finish what she started.

Maneuver. I want his head off!

Yumiko charges in for the final blow!

Battle
Yumiko attacks Order Officer + manoeuvre!
1 + 6 = 7 vs 12: Miss! D20 I love you!
However, it seems as though she was a bit too overzealous, as her swing flies high and does not hit the dying man.

Red attacks Order Officer.
9 + 4 = 13 vs 12: Hit! Ded.

Red follows behind, however, with a mighty swing that slices into the large cleft Yumiko had already created and rends the Order Officer's head from his shoulders. Even if not by her own hand, she got what she wanted. He falls to the floor with an audible thump, and his sword crackles and dissipates. The blue light illuminating the hole in the ground in the centre of the room fades, returning the room to the earthly light of the candles around the edges.

Victory!
Spoils
XP:
Veles gains 80 XP for completing Suspicious House, 5 XP for interrogating an enemy, 5 XP for stealing the Pearl
Yumiko gains 80 XP for completing Suspicious House, 5 XP for supporting her ally, 5 XP for roleplaying
Red gains 80 XP for completing Suspicious House, 5 XP for providing information, 5 XP for stealing the Pearl
Mulok gains 80 XP for completing Suspicious House, 10 XP for aiding his teammates with the Pearl, 5 XP for anticipating and preventing ambush, -5 XP for that ridiculously unlucky triple-miss ( )
Loot:
80 gold pieces
Pearl of Insight [??]

You return up the stairs and leave the house. The moon is visible over the city walls in the distance now, and the streets have grown much darker. The alleyways in shadow are almost pitch-black, now.
And to think... the Order of the Path probably only had that man executed so that they could get to this object - this Pearl of Insight. It's clear it holds incredible power, but they seemed to already be able to divine Paths - what use would they have for a trinket like this on its own?
At any rate, a good night's sleep would probably be a good choice at the moment, unless you want to investigate further.

Disappointed in herself for messing up her final attack, Yumiko just stares at the beheaded corpse of her enemy for a while, watching the blood gush out of it as it spreads all over the floor. She licks some of the man's blood off her halberd's blade, then walks off, buried in thought.
On the one hand, it feels good to be able to beat someone with power vastly superior to your own... ...but on the other hand, it's very worrysome that a puny human like him was able to obtain such power in the first place. At this rate these Order guys might actually pose a threat to her.
Staring at the moon, she eventually expresses her concerns to the rest of the group.
"So what's the deal with that pearl anyway? It seems to have the same power these freaks do, just stronger. What would they need it for?"
The sky seems to be very clear tonight, revealing all those beautiful stars. Just looking at this scenery in the sky gives her inner peace.
"It seems obvious they're up to something. Normally, I couldn't care less about the affairs of humans, but damn did these guys piss me off. I feel like I should thwart their plans just out of spite. That, and I have nothing better to do anyway."
She turns to look at the rest of the group.
"I think I'm gonna pay the library another visit while you guys catch some sleep; there must be something there, and I'll find out what it is. If you feel like antagonizing them as well, we'll meet up at the inn at morning. See you~!"
And with these words, she heads back towards the library and tries to get inside without catching anyone's attention.

Gold: 80
Spoiler: Red and Mulok
You both return to your respective places in bed, and go to sleep. Feel free to roleplay something else if you wish.
Spoiler: Veles
You head off in the direction of the local tavern. As you're walking down a broad alleyway, the moonlight casting a soft luminance on everything, you suddenly feel the unmistakable urge to turn down a side-alley. Even as your feet start to carry you in that direction, you still don't know why you walked this way, but as you reach the dead end, you find, messily painted all over the wall in some kind of luminescent material, the words:

Press on against the Path!

You seem to have now regained control of your feet.
Spoiler: Yumiko
You leave the rest of the group to their own ends and head back down the street you came up to get to the building. Once again, the library stands over you, the door open the slightest crack, with a faint light seeping out.
You silently pass inside...

The oak decor with the lush carpets, tapestries and book covers feels vibrant even at this time of night. Lighting candles as you go, it's obvious that most people wouldn't venture in here at this time of night. No signs of the book unveiling you were interrupted by last time remain. Its placement in your path was rather... oddly convenient, now that you think about it.
At any rate, you've found the section you were last at. Only two books that you breezed over seemed to have any real relevant information, though, one of them being the book you had originally found when you first came:
The Path -- A Study Analogy
The Path is something everyone has inside them. Everyone finds it through little tugging feelings at their consciousness, like when one feels good about having made a correct decision. That's the feeling of following one's Path. Often reports are given that people feel an uncanny sense of direction that they can't explain, and often not justify either. They're just compelled to do this or that. It's a sign that one's Path is strong, that they have a prospectful and bright future ahead of them. We've observed that those who are destined to live on the wrong side of the law often have weaker Paths, representing their more chaotic mindset and life, whereas moral guardians and earnest workers can almost see short-term glimpses of their Path ahead of them, their Path is so vivid.

The Legend of Nocturne Temple
A story told and re-told through many family lines in Alcordia is the one of Nocturne Temple, a mystical place in which the core essence of the Path can be found. A place where one can see their own Path as clear as day, laid out before their very eyes. A true sight of one's destiny.
It's said that should one's Path be righteous enough, their intentions true enough, that the Temple will reveal its innermost chambers, wherein lies the fabled Hand of Estarr - an artifact that is said to grant its holder the power to shape anyone's Path with so much as a flick of the wrist - to design destiny itself. No man has ever laid eyes upon even Nocturne Temple, however. Not since it was founded by our Forefather himself, Estarr, in the creation of Alcordia and all that dwells within. They say that Estarr scattered relics across the forming land - Pearls of Insight. Twelve gems of the most dark, mistifying and brilliant indigo that were said to, once all presented before the entrance to the Temple, allow one inside. However, no-one has found any Pearls nor the Temple entrance itself. Whether it indeed exists is yet another mystery.
Well, it certainly seems as if the part about the Pearls has at least some grain of truth to it - after all, Mulok has one now.

Yumiko, Lv 0.90 [Front]
HP 16/16
MP ■■
4-11 Dmg | +6 Hit | 18 AC
Steel halberd [ 1d8 Dmg | 2h ]
Leather cloak [ 2 AC ]
Spoiler: Inventory & Status
Items (3/7):

Longbow [ +2 Dmg ]

[50/50] Iron arrows [ 1d4 Dmg ]

Book "The Legend of Nocturne Temple"

...

...

...

Quick Strike [ 2 / 2 ] [ Active ] [ 30 AP ]

+4 Agility
-3 Fortitude
+2 Intellect
±0 Willpower

HPMod: +1

Appearance:
- Somewhat short, slightly curly black hair
- Crimson red eyes
- 1.71m tall
- Pale skin
- Large black bat-like wings
- Orange shirt with red ruby-like buttons on it and collar in the same red color. The sleeves end in black frills. Has two small holes on the back for the wings.
- Short dark red skirt with a faint star pattern on it
- Wears a black silk pantyhose
- Black shoes
- Looks to be around 17 years old.
I have full MP, btw, and Veles has more than 13 HP due to overkill healing unless Red's attack did just enough damage to reduce the enemy's HP to 0 and no further.

After making sure that there's no-one else around, Yumiko opens her cloak to allow her wings some exercise - keeping them hidden like that all the time isn't that comfortable.
She grins to herself as she finishes reading the first book.
"Destined to live on the wrong side of the law, eh? Foolish humans, do you really think you have the right to judge what's right and what's wrong?"
Her grin fades as she begins to read the second book, however. A temple that shows one's future... ...and holds an artifact with the power to change it? What a load of rubbish. Then again, the pearls mentioned in this book seem to actually exist... ...in the off chance that the temple and the artifact are real as well, she sure as hell wouldn't want the Order of Freaks to lay so much as a hand upon them.
"If anyone's going to shape my future, it'll be yours truly, thank you very much."
Still, at least this nicely explains what they're after...
Deciding that she's seen enough, she "borrows" the book about the temple, conceals her wings again and heads back outside, to the inn. She should let the beastman and the others know about this.

Veles brushes his finger against the strange writing and smells it. It is entirely unfamiliar. Whoever left this message for him, or led him here... Veles was being watched, obviously. And, even if he and this manipulator who left him this message apparently had a common enemy now, Veles still wasn't happy about this situation.
"Who's there? Show yourself, I don't converse with graffito."

Sleeping in the generic nondescript beds! WOOOO!
Spoiler: Veles
You shout and search the area, but it does not seem as though there is actually anyone in the vicinity. Maybe you should just get to sleep...
Spoiler: Yumiko
You make it back to the inn, but you can't seem to find Veles yet. Perhaps he was pre-occupied?
The other two appear to have gone to their own residences in the city as opposed to the inn.

But as she arrives at the inn, nobody's there. It appears she'll have to wait until morning and hope that they'll show up.
It's night, but considering how tired she is from not having caught any sleep during the day, she decides to catch some sleep as well.
