Funeral

Post by Ben Urban »

I'm going to be away attending my grandmother's funeral (she had just turned 80) in Michigan for a couple days; I expect to leave very early on Tuesday morning, and come back on Thursday. I don't expect to be able to post anything, but there's a chance I will be able to read posts. Also, I'll be unavailable tomorrow for most of the day (and I plan to go to sleep early tomorrow evening).

Ah... Sorry to hear that your grandmother has passed away (even though I probably can't really judge how that feels, considering I never even had one). See you in a few days.

I sort of know how you feel, my great-grandmother passed away this summer...
Hope you get out of your depression, see you when you get back.

I have no idea how horrible it is, when a grand parent dies... Mine are still alive, expect my other grandfather, he died before I was born.
But it must feel horrible... :(

Those kind of things happen: this is an undeniable truth that none of us may last for ever, and that one day, sooner or later, we simply have to go. (Is it me, or am I naturally pedantic like that?)

Anyway, as The Queen's song goes: The Show must go on! so as I do, try to always remember that those who are no more here would wish for you to be valliant and go-ahead instead of hopelessly mourning them endlessly.

Be brave! ;)

Bye, have fun, have mourning, do whatever you do at funerals.
And then come back.

It's hard to comfort someone after a death, especially since people believe different things about what happens (or doesn't) after death, but... For what it's worth, like Scytale said... it's best to move on as best as you can; dwelling on the past usually doesn't do much good.

Thank you all for your kind words of support. The loss has not "hit" me yet, and I don't know how I will react when it does.

I will say this: I have lost a great grandmother, a great grandfather, two grandfathers, and a step-grandfather over the course of my life so far (at least those are the ones I can think of offhand). Some of them have affected me more than others, I suppose.

I will be okay, eventually.

Edit: Just found out about where we'll be staying. It seems I will have Internet access after all! :)

That is a lot.
Fortunately for me, I have not lost any family members during my life. :)
But you're an old person. :P
