Re: Touhou
I never properly cleared PoFV. It was kinda boring. .__.
Also, does anyone know when we can expect the full Hopeless Masquerade?

It's certainly different from your average Touhou, but it's really fun once in a while. It's a real blast to play with an actual human as the second player, though!Agent of Dread wrote:I never properly cleared PoFV. It was kinda boring. .__.
I don't think the full release date has been announced yet. ;/Agent of Dread wrote:Also, does anyone know when we can expect the full Hopeless Masquerade?

Re: Touhou
Hopeless Masquerade's full release has arrived! Now we just have to wait for a translation patch.
There's also some news about 14, but I can't decipher much of anything from it.

Re: Touhou
Oh yeah, I already know.
Re: Touhou
A week after the release, this game still confuses me. Knowing each animation of your character is much more important in this game, which makes it a bit harder to get into; that's probably mostly a good thing, though, as the usual fighting game faceroll syndrome is distinctly averted.
At least, picking characters to focus on is easier this time - I find some gameplay mechanics, like those of Miko and Nitori, quite offputting, while others, like Koishi's, are ridiculously fun.
I'm looking forward to playing Koishi against a friend of mine, who annoyed the crap out of me with Suwako in 12.3...

Re: Touhou
I've just been playing Marisa, because I loooooove her design in 13.5.
It'll be nice when a translation is released.

Re: Touhou
Touhou 14 is really fun, though I'm seriously out of practice... I'm currently extremely stingy when it comes to spellcard use, buy it looks like Sakuya A is going to help with that...
My expectations have lowered as well though, so I can use continues without feeling ashamed or mad at myself.
Sekibanki is quite tough for a stage 2 boss.
I love how the "Theme of Eastern Story" motif is used in most, if not all tracks of the game, without anything sounding repetitive.

Re: Touhou
I couldn't get past stage three of the demo without continuing, if I remember correctly. I've only really been playing PCB again lately.

Warhammer 40K is proof that dolls are the hobby of both tiny girls and manly men.

Re: Touhou
As a bridge between them serves Wooden Hammer 40K, where you pit dozens of Tewi figurines against each other.
By the way, Marisa B is once again the most "balanced" shot type. Her bomb is pretty poor at what bombs normally do, as it doesn't give you full protection and only clears a small part of the screen, but you can just sustain yourself forever by spamming it if there's enough bullets. You need some careful timing and good knowledge of the patterns, so not everyone can pull it off (I can't), but it's still damn ridiculous.

I got new, and by my standards, ridiculously good and huge headphones, and I'm now pretty certain that apart from thematic reasons, Miko's weird cat ears hairstyle has the practical use of preventing hair from getting under the earmuffs, because that's unexpectedly obnoxious.
what an atrocious double post, ban me

Re: Touhou
Oh yeah, I haven't posted here in a while.
So, like, stuff happened, even though I've only very recently started actually playing Touhou again.
In case anyone gives a damn:
- I casually 1cc'd Hopeless Masquerade on Lunatic with a life to spare. Apparently I'm better at fighting games than I am at SHMUPs?
- DDC is pretty awesome. I like the simplicity and the focus on the core gameplay.
So at first I thought DDC was hard. Harder than UFO, in fact.
Then I stopped sucking.
I have no other explanation for how I went from 4ccing Normal on my first attempt to 1ccing it with 6 extra lives to spare on my second.
It probably helps that DDC is pretty generous when it comes to extra lives, especially compared to TD, which was so absurdly stingy that it wasn't even possible to max out your lives in regular play lol.
All things considered, it's probably one of the easier Touhou games, but that's quite refreshing (yes, it still is, even after we got TD) after the trainwreck that was UFO.
- Also, remember how I once failed at Flandre's final spellcard?
I finally mustered the motivation to give it another go.
I won. At 0/0, but I finally won.
(Yes, that score is completely terrible, but I was more concerned with finally beating the damn thing.
And yes, I still rock at deathbombing.)
That makes 3 Extra Stages beaten, and 3 more that I have a reasonable shot at. The only ones that are still completely beyond my abilities are PCB's and MoF's.

Re: Touhou
Congratulations, dude. The other day I ended my months-long break from Touhou by attempting to marathon all of the main series shooters and getting tired and becoming completely incompetent by MoF, but I did manage to blow my score on Normal EoSD out of the water:
I was Livestreaming at the time and that name was probably some attempt at being funny.
