Once your power supply is replaced,
Unfortunately, that turned out to be impossible; the computer is so fucking rare to begin with that compatible power supplies are not manufactured anymore and used ones to order from the US cost like 250$... and since no one I know and apparently no one my dad knows has ever ordered anything from the US, and American businesses are considered so untrustworthy that ordering anything from them at least was at some point warned in a bank-related thing I had to fill once as basically voiding them of any responsibility if their customers (eg. I) got scammed or something. Rich people don't have this problem, of course, but we're literally in like the bottom 10% by Finnish standards, which probably by international standards puts us in the top 10% and thus by le social justice standards voids our right to complain about shit. My right to complain is especially voided since I'm officially mentally ill, which is not seen as a real thing by SJWs... not that I care about what SJWs think, but well, they are impossible to avoid at this point... and they'd happily take away my right to use the internet or make music or whatever if they were able to...
Woody, once you get your PC back
...and since there's no way I'm ever getting it back, or any actual proper PC again (only a laptop), well... I mean, all the things I like doing are now impossible for at least until I can get a laptop, but even then I won't be able to make music or anything again unless my dad manages to miraculously get the hard drive to work properly on the laptop with Windows 7; this would require the drive names or whatever to be the same as they were (C being C, D being D, etc.), and for everything that works on XP to work on 7...
He said he's trying to find computer experts to ask for help on that, but basically said flat out that it's simply impossible as far as he knows because the operating system is always on C and the C of that hard drive becomes D if it's attached to a different computer, since it already has a C drive with the operating system, so... eh... the only way around that would be to reinstall every software, but there's no guarantee that anything would work since it's a different operating system, and I know for a fact that some software I use simply doesn't work on anything newer than XP because they're old shit that are no longer even supported or available, etc. Why does this shit have to be so complicated!?
People just ten years ago couldn't have understood this, and would laugh at me for being so dependent on a fucking computer, and most still would if they're ten years older than me. I'm not sure if the advancement and spread of technology into people's daily lives has been so aggressively anti-socialising anywhere else in the world as it has in Finland; Japan, maybe, but at least they have public (and pubic XDDDD ...I couldn't resist the pun...
) uses for everything new that connect people to at least the thought of being social, even if it's not really being social. Here, it's the exact opposite... people depend on computers and more recently smartphones for every kind of social interaction with each other so that they can escape even the illusion of having to be social, when in reality all they do online is use social media... it's gotten to the point where social media is the new scapegoat for kids' anti-social behaviour, and the anti-social and antisocial shit on social media is perceived as a threat for being too social.
...and the fact that I'm not really into social media, and mostly used by computer to make music makes me even more of a freak. I mean, as big as electronic music is, the idea of being a DIY musician is pretty alien in Finland (except for punk and black metal, but that's different as a whole and most punk and especially black metal musicians find the use of computers in music alien, so...), so...
we could chat over there re: music and stuff. I want to run some lyrics by you before I commit to recording (since the subject may be... not cool with you I guess).
All subjects are cool, I guess, especially now.
I wonder if people before the invention of computers felt depressed as fuck all the time, only waiting for interesting shit on TV; I mean, right now one of the few things that makes me want to keep living is so I can watch Ville Haapasalo's next travel series that begins on the 26th; if you don't know who he is, he's an actor/traveller/TV personality/whatever and does an "X in 30 days" travel series, and the next one is Altai. ALTAI!
