if I enter egoboo in google, 1st result is
http://egoboo.sourceforge.net/
Latest News says there:
2.6.9... (20.02.09)
We're getting closer to being able to release a new stable version.
Also Download there is for 2.6.8. A bit lame for the official egoboo site not to be up to date.
And Ubuntu package is even worse, 2.2.2 or so.
I first installed ubuntu, found it was too old, went to the egoboo page, now I find this is also too old.

Um, he said, we're getting closer to being able to release a new version.
Obviously, 2.6.9 isn't ready yet.
And we're trying to work out the package problem. Just sit tight, mkay?

I agree that the webpage is outdated. I hope PurpleSquerkle can find some time just to post some info. Tell them that hotseat is going to be in the game, new music and maybe even a new module if all goes well.
We know of the 2.22 package in Ubuntu. We are not allowed to update it until we change the way Egoboo handles it's game files.
2.6.8 is the latest still fully stable release candidate. 2.7.0 was found to have numerous bugs that made it unplayable. The current version in the SVN is going some vast changes and it takes some time to get it to work.

Sorry about that!
1. I have been kind of busy, yes.
2. I didn't know what to put. I figured it would be annoying if I kept putting up stuff that said "We're almost there!" because there's still no new version. What do you want me to put...? Just hype? I'd definitely update it if we could get a new binary for the development version. I don't know how many people actually use the SVN, but that would certainly be newsworthy.
3. Regarding Ubuntu... Well, what Zefz said, pretty much.
