Egoboo process still running after close

Post by Dark »

After I close Egoboo its process keeps on running. Because of that I cant start Egoboo again until I shut down the process manually.
Had it from start (2.65b) and still have it in 2.8.

Using win XP.

Can you post the log.txt before quitting it manually?

Sure. Here:

Starting Egoboo 2.6.8...
INFO: Initializing high-performance counter...
INFO: Frequency is 3579545 hz
INFO: Initializing clock services...
INFO: Initializing filesystem services...
INFO: Game directories are:
Game: D:\Male Gry\Egoboo
Temp: C:\DOCUME~1\Dark\USTAWI~1\Temp\
Save: C:\Documents and Settings\Dark\Moje dokumenty\egoboo\
Import: C:\DOCUME~1\Dark\USTAWI~1\Temp\import\
INFO: net_initialize: Networking not enabled.
INFO: Initializing SDL_mixer audio services...
INFO: Initializing module linking... Success!
INFO: Exiting Egoboo 2.6.8 the good way...
INFO: net_shutDown: Turning off networking.

--------------------
Edit: Uninstalling and installing again solved the problem. Maybe its because I just installed 2.6.8 on 2.6.5 without deleting it. Anyway... sorry for bothering. Works fine now.

Installing one version over another can cause problems.

lightbulb = silly greeting thing

there is really no reason for the process to keep running even if it is hanging on the exit. It may be that one of the .dlls is hanging while it is closing/uninitializing. This will cause egoboo to hang as well.

Does this happen every time you close? Can you see the Egoboo process in the "Applications" tab of the Windows Task Manager? Is it just showing on the Taskbar? Do you have to look at the "Processes" tab of the Windows Task Manager?

Also, are you using the SDL .dlls distributed with Egoboo?

Uh... Was wrong. Still got the same problem. Guess reinstalling only fixed it till comp restart.

Its possible its the dlls. They are being still used by Egoboo process while its running after close.

Yes it happens every time. (Well didnt after reinstalling Egoboo until I restarted the comp.)
And yes. I check and turn off the process in task manager. Its gone from taskbar.

Yes. I just got Egoboo 2.6.8 installed and didnt really change anything. Got there dlls (among others): SDL.dll, SDL_mixer.dll, SDL_ttf.dll.

These are actually more important questions

Can you see the Egoboo process in the "Applications" tab of the Windows Task Manager?
Is it just showing on the Taskbar?
Do you have to look at the "Processes" tab of the Windows Task Manage

Its not in applications tab. I can only see it in processes tab and nowhere else.

Oh, I know what you mean, but that never happens with Egoboo for me, only with Garry's Mod (different game).

I remember having that in one of the older versions, if it's any help.

I don't remember exactly which one it was, but I figure it was between 2.4.x to 2.6.x.
Didn't pay much attention to it back then, mostly because a new release came soon and it seemed to have stopped. That new release changed something in the physics engine, if I recall correctly.
