I think I made a spellbook that animates Chocobones from dead bodies. I'm not sure where it is anymore.
Making the skill progressive instead of static should be pretty easy. We could give him a 0.175 damage bonus per level instead of a static +2 bonus. At level 10 he would have 1.75 bonus damage and at level 20 he would have a maximum 3.5 bonus
This would increase the power of higher level characters, but reduce it for lower ones.

It is a bug (or rather, a missing feature). You are supposed to always be able to exchange your armor with the one currently in a chest, in case you like your own armor better, or in case it actually is better to you (some players, for example, might prefer the possibility to move quickly over a good protection).
It is like this with all golden chests that give you armor, by the way, with the simple reason being that they don't seem to have the exchange behaviour scripted in them.

I have the bug where the lich battle crashes, here's my log.txt:
(I'm running Windows XP)
Starting Egoboo 2.6.8...

INFO: Frequency is 15053306 hz
INFO: Initializing clock services...
INFO: Initializing filesystem services...

INFO: Initializing module linking... Success!
NOTE: Object is missing an skin (modules\wizard.mod\objects\light.obj\)!
Also I get a bug sometimes where if I have a stack of items and try to use one it will act as though another item was trying to use the item and not my character, eg:
"The Bear trap doesn't know how to use a Bear Trap." when I'm playing as a rogue. I've seen this happen with potions also.
