 Post subject: A few 2.8.1 bugs

Well, I don't know if they're bugs or if they've already been reported, but at least they're things that make beating modules impossible:

In Healer starter:
-Frights don't die when using the healing on them
-No torch at all: makes it impossible to beat it

In Elf starter:
-Tents' stuffs are randomized, there isn't a mallet always, makes it impossible to beat

In every module:
-Sometimes when attacking enemies, player suddenly dies

Torch and Mallet is never randomized. They always spawn normally according to spawn.txt

I can kill frights every time with my healing....

There is some kind of torch bug that causes it to not spawn every so often. We need to look into this. However, this does not actually make the module unbeatable... what else is on fire and can you use it to light the brazier???

Nothing I know of.

Anyway, couldn't it be possible to change the torch solution into some sort of altar/pillar/fountain/... which transforms the Healer's mace into a torch or "Fiery Maze"? This could make things easier.

Well, I don't know what causes it then. :o Because I tested a few times, and they don't spawn every time. And in Healer starter, it didn't spawn any time. :?

The frights? Well, I tried to hit them with the mace, but when I hit them, they do the usual bump thing, but I still get that can't attack thing. :o

Maybe the installing messed up or something... Weeell, at least many of the old bugs don't exist anymore, so it's awesome.

I experienced the torch not spawning bug. Zefz thinks it might be a script problem with the hidden bottom of the chest.

You can get the frights to bump into the braziers, but it takes quite a bit of herding. They will bounce off of your character as well as weapons so that is one way. You can also use the flames on a fright to light the torch.

The mallet may spawn and be hidden under one of the tepees. Once the tepee is "dead" it doesn't push the mallet anymore. Try to move around and pick up things. If you are too far away, you should get some kind of floating text telling you what is near. This is definitely working in revision 1438. Maybe zefz can get a .exe out soon.

additional bug in priest starter. when i get torch i cant light it on the lit brazier no matter how much i try.

also, thief starter: whip seemed to keep missing even though i was aiming directly at my targets. that and being attacked by a mysterious force (maybe it was just an invisible creature but i doubt it)

no, i didnt, but after i did i got a new bug. i broke the statue to open the door to the lich and when i did i somehow created a clone of myself and couldnt pick up anything, and then when i pressed escape to quit the module, it told me i won =/

okay this one i haventt seen in any of the bug reports ive read (and i read them all) so forgive me if its known. 2 player doesnt work right because the mouse is unresponsive. maybe its because i changed the controls since my middle mouse button doesnt work, but i can do everything but move the character with the mouse.

I think you are right.

This movement mode may have broken some time ago and no one bothered to fix it because we all hate it so much. :twisted:

I think I can fix it without too much trouble.
