I know, the 2.6.8 release was very popular and stable. But it is also ancient now... 2 years back or so.

I am working on getting 2.8.1 released before we get the new 2.9.x branch stable. I need some time for that and compile some libraries which I am missing, but it should be pretty much stable afaik. I will release it in the community first for final debugging to remove critical errors, but any minor bugs will be ignored as we are working on an entirely new branch.

Isn't 2.7.4 quite non-buggy? At least it works kinda nicely for testing things, but well.

Hmmm, i'm just wondering...
is there any need for the save games ?
like i cant play other modules unless i save the progress ?
also, are there any other modules to play ?
because, i played the elf and didnt find the tombstone
that leads to the zombie module...?

Some modules are only unlock through save games. Those are mostly quest and story related. All special Starter modules can be unlocked without actually saving your game as long as you unlock them with an existing save game :P

But good news! Birdsey and I have been working on getting 2.8.1 finished which among other things should fix the corrupt save game problem.

The sheep is not even a bug but an 'easteregg' for players going criminal in Zippy Village...

About the zombie: Try to stunlock him with mallet or claw or to use a "hit and retreat" tactic to confuse him. Or try the bow.

Of course "we guys" know... after all, many of "us guys" (not including me, to prevent confusion...) are developers...

Anyway, you mean more starters?
G'nome Starter is accessible after beating Rogue Starter if you manage to let K'nife (the G'nome captive) escape with you.
The other starters all require deeds in non-starter modules, iirc.

Valkyrie Starter is unlocked after you beat the game.

The Archaeologist Starter is unlocked by bringing a special item to the Sand Palace and beating it within a specified time.

I believe that 2.6.8 had a major problem in the Sand Palace, which made you unable to see the puzzle properly. Not that stable, in my opinion.

Do you mean after a certain event happened or is there an actual time limit within the level?

You may be right, but I thought it was Egoboo 2.7.4 that had that texture problem.

And as soon as you enter the sand palace with the item, you will have 10 minutes or so to beat the module before the Archaelogist is unlocked.

Three should be enough though if you have some spare keys (two silver ones) and remember how the puzzle is done. Just rush through the trogs without killing em, solve the puzzle, humiliate the boss (assuming you have enough fire power at this point) and grab the fork. Ta-dah, archeologist starter unlocked without breaking a sweat.

Oh, and I think that it really was the 2.6.8 that had the texture problem. It won't prevent you from completing the puzzle though if you just know how it is done. This is a huge problem for new players though

True. That's why we are working on getting 2.8.1 released ;)

The amount of time you have available to beat the module is also modified by the game difficulty. I think Clonkinator beat the module under 2 minutes or so using the tactic you just described.
