weird graphics Bug (2.8.0 Stable)

Hello all, I'm new to the forums but I already know Egoboo for quite a while.
Now here is my problem:
I recently downloaded Egoboo 2.8.0 (stable) and installed it on my PC.(System specs: Win7 Pro 32Bit, 2.8 Ghz Pentium4 Processor, Ati Radeon x1650 Pro (AGP Version, with Vista Drivers), 2 Gb Ram)
Now everytime I start the game, I see this: Image I can still click the bubttons and I'd basically still be able to play the game, it's just that all graphics and buttons etc. seem to be replaced by red rectangles. If I change the compatibility options to 'execute with 256 colours' I can see the graphics but they have strange colours.
Egoboo 2.7.4 works, but it's quite slow.

Willkommen, Supersonic. I am pleased to see another long-timer.

About your problem, I think I have a good solution.
1: Go into your Egoboo folder.
2: Double-click on "My Egoboo Stuff".
3: There is a text file called "Setup". Click on it.
4: You should see something called [ANTIALIASING]. There is a number next to that called "0".
5: Change it to low number like "1", "2" or "3". Make sure you do not delete the quotation marks.

That should fix it.

Please report back on how it works.

Thank you very much for your suggestion, Seth!
It works perfect now! :) The only problem for me was that I didn't think about that "my Egoboo stuff" could also be a link and not just a folder in the main directory ;)

Well, you can usually trust the symbols, can't you? :)

If it doesn't look like a folder, it is none.

Or are you used to face "folder mimics" and such abominations? ;)
(If I think about that... folder mimics could work nicely as an Egoboo monster!)

I'm too much used to Windows, I guess :)
Has no one actually yet made a level with windows graphics?
There would be a lot of things you could use...

Fear the MSN messenger icon guys that try to kill you and stare at you with their empty, blank faces!

Maybe this could be a quest by some penguins from the Ice Palace!?

[WARNING: Expositon ahoy.]

There was a guy who wanted to become a hero. But he was invariably corrupt from the beginning. He used his evil nature to attract many innocent and poor peope and turn them into abulic henchmen...

He became known as *THE EXPLORER OF TEH INTERNETS, a name feared by many.

In order to join the mighty Order of the Linux Shield, you must enter the abhorrent Den of the Windows, make your way through the enslaved servants of the Explorer (but be careful not to kill them; I imagine it like an Iji pacifist run) and slay the vile abomination itself, which turned into a lich-like being with an Image as a face...

How about that? :D

*The font tags belong to its name, no one knows why...

Now we still need some more weapons. How about the almighty "ANYKEY" and the "CTRL+ALT+DEL-Spell"?
And the Dungeons could be Win 95/98/2k/XP/Vista/Seven ;)
Our hero has to fight perfectly imitated system crashes. Or he has them to support him
BTW: Win 7 is really good in my Opinion ;)
And another thing: We're still in the Bug Report subforum, maybe we should move this discussion somewhere else ;)

Oohhh yes. I can make some monsters, at least. Don't know if I'll be able to test them.. right now Egoboo 2.7.5 (lol) and EgoMap are crashing due to driver mess.
Hehe, this is evil to people who like Microsoft..
