Beat the sand palace. Then you get the next palace.
Repeat until done.

Modules get unlocked as of v. 2.6.4 I think, instead of them all being opened.

You need to copy the modules.txt file from your previous version.

Nah, I wouldn't do that, that sometimes causes errors. Rather just copy whatever you find below "// Module expansion IDSZs ( with a colon in front )"

With the new quest system that's in the trunk your progress is saved with your character :) That means if you import a character from a previous version (beginning from that release of course), your progress get saved!

In addition each new character you make has it's own progression (a new character does not have automatically all the modules unlocked that your previous character unlocked).

The lower error is not a vista related bug. It has something to do with egoboo's code. This bug has been known a while. I think I fixed it on many pc's (Havent seen it for a loong while), but restarting a couple of times might do the trick.

Generally with Windows if you get weird errors you should try restarting first.
Because Windows is dumb.

I know, I would have rathered the laptop be a Vista. :P
@Zefz: Well I've tried multiple times (each on a seperate restart of the PC) and I always get the same error, even though I am running it in Windows 98 compatability mode. :?

Erm... you should try each and every one of the compatibility modes, it's unlikely, but I've had several games that only ran on a specific compatibility mode.
And try checking some of those boxes under the mode tab, too.

Game Display

Post by SwiftLoneWolf »

I seem to be having a problem with the display, when the game starts up, the background picture is blurred, and the text can't be read.
If I troubleshoot it and set it to Windows XP (SP Pack 2), it will give me the following message:
Egoboo has encountered a problem and is exiting.
This is the error report:
Cannot read mp_data/scancode.txt
Press OK to exit
Any help would be appreciated. please and thank you in advance.

Try Egoboo 2.8.1. You can edit setup.txt to change texture filtering or enable antialiasing, both which have solved your problem before.

I'm not sure what I'm doing though.
It says Texture Filtering is Trilinear and Antialiasing is 1.
Can I have something specific please?
