Mountable pet

I had this idea... I was wondering if it would be possible to make a pet that can be mounted.
Something like the magic carpet but make it a pet as well. (Possibly also with some special ability like breathing fire.)

You should be able to make something that can be picked up (necessary if you can take it with you outside the module) and can be mounted.

You just have to set the following in the object's data.txt file:

Code: Select all

...
Item carries to next module ( TRUE or FALSE )   : TRUE
...
...
...
Object is an item ( TRUE or FALSE )      : TRUE
Object is a mount ( TRUE or FALSE )      : TRUE
...

Mounts as items do cause some problems, though; I made a little vehicle for the Hobgoblin once and weird stuff happens if you put it in your inventory while something else is on it...

You'd probably want to script it so that anyone who isn't the owner gets kicked off.

This is NOT a new idea, just one that doesn't do well because putting mounts in your pocket causes glitches, and is hard to do in the first place. If anything, it should be something that can shrink somehow, a magical creature...or else a blob of some sort...

It's not a new idea, it's true, but it can be done without glitches, have you gotten the Magic Carpet?

That has glitches. If an NPC gets near you when you're holding it (sprinkle a little luck on your computer), it will jump onto the Carpet.

Umm who ever said it was? Esp. since the magic carpet and a hobgoblin vehicle that Purple made were mentioned. It would, however, be useful for the Valkyrie. (Wow I spelled it right on the first try!)

So yes. It has been done with little error. Just make sure you pay attention to that kind of thing.

@ Maxaxle: 1. A mountable blob? That would be kind of... strange, wouldn't it?
2. Were the NPCs also saved as inventory items if you saved and quit? Wouldn't that mess with the hostilit properties in the next module you played?
@Dark: Breathing fire? A hot dog pet would be the best choice.

The main thing is that only items in your inventory are exported. So how would you grab the hot dog?
