In a way, I like the existing site, with the user generated artwork as watermarks.
The one thing that might unify it with the game would be a web interface that matched the style of the in-game menus?
The two things that you mentioned are important: ease of updating, and ability to resize.
Could use frames and load the "text" for each page as its own .html file? That would make it extremely easy to update. Having a customized style sheet might help a lot too.
To be able to resize we need to format the page using %width instead of pixels. Is it possible to write some js code to make it % if the screen is above a certain minimum resolution and pixels if below?

Yeah. I agree.
I could do a website, but... only if the site HTML can be edited.
(examples )
http://deformedelephantsurgery.yolasite.com/
http://goatbishop-bm.yolasite.com/
(and there was one other site, but I don't remember the url)
...No, I'm not adversiting anything.
EDIT: And I don't know if a new SITE is wanted, but only site design? ()

I haven't had a look at the raw html files for the site, but they might be a bit hard to deal with if they are not plain text. For instance, if you make even the simplest page in MS Word, it exports a ton of style info in the file and makes almost everything very difficult to read.
The idea would be to make it as easy as possible (other than the SSH difficulties). I'm not sure what to do other than to have the page info in its own frame, which could be relatively easily edited? Then all the background artwork, etc. could be in some other files that would hardly ever need to be edited?

SSH not needed anymore
They changed it on SF:
A website now can be uploaded or updated using Filezilla in SFTP mode. That's much easier. No 'putty' console needed anymore Then a normal user login is needed. Easy as using SVN.
